# What is Open USD (OUSD)?

**Open USD (OUSD) is a dollar [stablecoin](https://openusd.dev/guides/concepts/#stablecoin) created by Open Standard and [issued](https://openusd.dev/guides/concepts/#issuer) by Bridge Building Inc.** It launched on September 30, 2026. Bridge National Trust Bank is a separate entity in organization. It is not yet operational and does not currently issue OUSD.

## Governance and reserves

Open Standard names Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa as founding partners. Its [company-structure announcement](https://joinopenstandard.com/blog/company-structure-and-leadership) describes partner equity based on supply and activity, and shareholder representation on the board.

Its [launch announcement](https://joinopenstandard.com/blog/ousd-is-live) names BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY as [reserve](https://openusd.dev/guides/concepts/#reserves) holders and points to [Bridge’s reserve portal](https://reserves.bridge.xyz/ousd) for monthly [attestations](https://openusd.dev/guides/concepts/#attestation). This reference has not reviewed an attestation report or audited the reserves.
