Open USD vs USDG

OUSD and Global Dollar (USDG) both reward participating businesses. The practical differences are who issues the token, which networks it uses, and how your business obtains it and exchanges it back for dollars. Neither partner program means every token holder automatically earns a return.

Question Open USD (OUSD) Global Dollar (USDG)
Issuer Bridge Building Inc. Paxos Digital Singapore and Paxos Issuance Europe, in Singapore and Finland.
Native networks Base, Ethereum, Solana and Tempo. Contracts Arbitrum One, Ethereum, Ink, Mantle, Robinhood Chain, Solana and X Layer. Latest addition
Create tokens or redeem for dollars Onboard with an OUSD provider. Bridge advertises no mint/redemption fees. An onboarded Paxos institutional account offers 1:1 redemption with no mint/redemption fees.
Partner rewards Open Standard rewards qualifying supply and activity. Global Dollar Network rewards minting, custody and acceptance.

Account eligibility and geography still apply. A zero issuer fee does not remove network, bank, FX or provider charges. Bridge’s proposed national trust bank is not yet operational and does not currently issue OUSD.

For OUSD, Open Standard requires partner registration to earn supply/activity rewards. For USDG, Global Dollar Network sets partner incentives through commercial agreements; its calculator is not a guaranteed payout.

Paxos’s terms distinguish the token from distributor incentives. If a wallet or exchange offers customers rewards, check that separate program’s eligibility and terms. Do not model an advertised partner return as automatic interest on every customer balance.

Open Standard names BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY as OUSD reserve holders and links to Bridge’s monthly attestation portal. Paxos describes USDG backing as dollar deposits, US Treasuries and cash equivalents and publishes monthly attestations. No individual attestation report or reserve balance was independently verified for this comparison.

USDG’s EU whitepaper also provides EU retail holders a redemption process through partners or Paxos support, with identity checks. Holding a token is different from having an issuer account; residence and the applicable issuer determine the redemption route.

For either asset, first confirm that your provider supports the exact token, network and operation you need. Then compare onboarding, settlement time, total fees and any reward agreement. Native deployment alone does not establish provider API access or a cross-chain transfer route.

Start with the OUSD directory or the USDG developer toolkit. This page compares Open Standard’s OUSD, not Origin Dollar or the 3D graphics OpenUSD project.
