Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026.
This policy covers openusd.dev, an independent developer reference for the Open USD payments ecosystem. It does not cover the providers or external websites linked from our guides and directory.
For privacy questions or requests, tweet at Paul. Please do not include personal information in a public post.
Browsing this site
Section titled “Browsing this site”You can read the site without creating an account. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you choose Allow analytics. Declining does not limit access to the site. We do not use advertising trackers, a newsletter signup, payment processing, or forms that submit personal information.
Search and ecosystem filtering run in your browser. We do not send the search terms you type to an external search service. Your browser downloads the site’s search index and content to display results.
Analytics
Section titled “Analytics”If you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how many browsers visit the site and which pages they read. Google receives page views, session and engagement information, cookie identifiers, browser and device information, and approximate location derived from the connection. These counts are estimates, not a list of identifiable people.
The site’s tag removes query strings and fragments from the page URL it sends and limits the referrer to its website origin. We do not send search terms, names, email addresses, wallet details, or account IDs. Enhanced measurement, Google Signals, granular location and device collection, advertising personalization, and optional account data sharing are disabled.
We do not load Google’s analytics tag or send analytics data to Google before you opt in. Use Analytics settings in the footer to change your choice. Choosing No thanks stops future collection, removes this site’s accessible Google Analytics cookies, and reloads the page if the tag was already running. It does not erase data already received by Google.
Google processes analytics data on its infrastructure, which can include processing outside your country. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.
User-level and event-level retention is set to two months, without restarting the user-data period on new activity. This setting does not limit most aggregated reports. See Google’s retention documentation.
Hosting and technical information
Section titled “Hosting and technical information”The site is hosted through Sites. Delivering pages requires the hosting infrastructure to receive technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time. Hosting providers may process access and operational logs for delivery, security, and troubleshooting.
This policy does not promise that the hosting infrastructure keeps no logs. Hosting-level retention periods and processing locations have not been independently verified by the site maintainer.
The site uses system fonts and serves its own assets. It does not load a third-party font service in your browser.
Cookies and browser storage
Section titled “Cookies and browser storage”After you opt in, Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_* first-party cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions. Our tag limits their expiry to 180 days without extending it on each visit; browsers may impose a shorter lifetime. See Google’s cookie documentation.
Hosting responses can set Cloudflare’s __cf_bm security cookie for bot management. Cloudflare documents a 30-minute expiry after inactivity and states that the cookie is generated separately per site. See Cloudflare’s cookie documentation. The site also uses browser storage for preferences:
- Analytics choice:
openusd-analytics-consent-v1in local storage remembers acceptance or refusal for 180 days. After that, we ask again. If storage is unavailable, an acceptance applies only to the current page. - Appearance: the
starlight-themepreference in local storage remembers your light, dark, or automatic theme choice across visits. - Navigation: the framework may use session storage to remember documentation sidebar state during your browsing session.
The preference records are not used to build an advertising profile. You can reset them by clearing this site’s data in your browser. Local storage remains until cleared or replaced, though an expired analytics choice is no longer honored; session storage normally ends with the browser tab’s session. Your browser may also cache public pages and assets.
Messages you choose to send
Section titled “Messages you choose to send”If you contact Paul on X, your post and profile information may be publicly visible. We use the information you share to respond to your question or privacy request and maintain necessary correspondence. X handles these interactions under its own privacy practices.
We retain correspondence only as long as needed to handle the matter, maintain a necessary record, or meet applicable legal obligations. Avoid sending passwords, wallet keys, account credentials, or other sensitive information.
Sharing and external links
Section titled “Sharing and external links”We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Service providers may process technical information or correspondence as described above. Information may also be disclosed when required by law.
Links to documentation, provider websites, X, and other resources take you to independently operated services. Those services have their own privacy practices. Opening the X profile link does not post a message automatically.
Your choices and requests
Section titled “Your choices and requests”You can turn analytics off through Analytics settings in the footer and clear local preferences and cached site data through your browser settings. For questions about personal information provided to us, or to request access, correction, or deletion, tweet at Paul without including personal details in the public post. We will assess requests under the law that applies and may need to verify your identity. Your available rights depend on your location and the circumstances.
Changes to this policy
Section titled “Changes to this policy”We will update this page if the site’s data practices change and revise the date above. If new features introduce additional collection or tracking, their privacy information will be updated accordingly.
